Most of the AFAW range are between 199.00- 240.00, the new 6 & bait 140.00, the Century cccld you can get for about 200 with discount. The Century has the old bhng rings, whereas the AFAW mostly use new bmnag Alconites on the dearer rods.

I bought a 13' multi in a moment of weakness, as they were going for £99.99 at Spotty Dog. Not used it in anger but it is well put together and finished. It seems OK to cast and with my limited casting ability did not seem to have any bad habits.

On further investigation the problem appears to be with my computer....for some reason your image footer does not display...I could understand it better if it was the case with everyone on this site who had an image footer, but its just yours. I checked it on my wifes laptop and its fine. Mind you our IT guy at work is so paranoid and has so much protection loaded on my machine its a wonder to me that I can do anything on it. They are like another life form IT people.

I said it elswhere Gazza I aint gonna bother to read anyone elses posts or trawl the internet. Looks like I did not buy a pig after all. Great stuff. I doubt I'll ever get 6 ounces and bait to anywhere much past 120 yds. Someone who shall be nameless said at 6'-6" and the thick end of 20 stone I should be able to do double that with ease. As we all know its ability and practice that get distance, but hey its only for fun....real fishun is done from boats. See if I dont gets some takes on that remark

I had a look and a feel of the six and bait and I was very impressed and I don't think you'd be dissapointed. Make sure you shop around though for the best prices. I ended up paying the extra and got the Big beach which I'm really impressed with. Just waiting for the conger to get feeding so I can give it a proper test..

Sorry to go back to this post............. But ive been wondering if anybody checked out the 13.4 foot match version when looking at the AFAW rod range. The casting weight seems very similar to the "6" and the rod is only 4 ins longer..........whats the differnce .. as its sold for £200 squid ish......... Is it just cosmetically better or is the blank that much differnt to the "6" hence the price difference. Any Clues. Gazza

Just to answer my own Question and for the benefit of others managed to speak to Julian Shambrook guvnor of AFAW today and he said its essentially horses for courses. The "6" is wot it sez on the tin for the money. 6oz lead and 2 x baits, although it isnt designed to fish 4 oz and baits as the tip is a tad too strong. and the 13.4ft Match is essentially all of the above in a "Go faster Stripes" suit. Better quality Blank(carbon) Alconite guides rather than BNGH more refined tip to register smaller bites depending on your chosen quarry and is better suited to fish lighter lead situations. All this for £100 squid more.....hhhmmmmmmmm !!!!! Gazza
