hey all, anyone on our wonderful site who can give me a digram of a good placie rig for beach and pier i fish a lot for coddies and do ok mostly, all the years i have fished i have never targeted plaice and i know they abound in our waters off essex, being soft mud/clay and shallow all advice very much appreciated cheers neil

With this type of rig you could not go far wrong but make the trace below the weight a lot longer The wishbone rig is seen as the ultimate flattie rig as all the baits are on the bottom and the smell of 2 baits is concentrated in one small area. Although the diagram below is ok, i always use the basic wishbone set up but have the main hook rig and snoods done as a running ledger if that makes sense.

I like the wishbone for plaice and put a few green and black beads on the hook snoods too to get the plaice interested. As has been said elsewhere, plaice fishing is not that easy. To start with, at most beach venues you need to cast at least 100 yds if not more, hence Solehunter shows a clipped down wishbone. Also, these fish prefer to hunt in gin clear water on sunny days. If the water is coloured and choppy you have much less chance of contacting one.

thanks guys, its all a big help, casting th distance is the easy bit, the hard bit is that our waters from all the beaches are very cloudy even on a good day dur to the clay ill give it a go, was planning night trip, maybe not now ha ha thanks again neil
