With you on that one squidhead, had a heart attack myself a couple of years back. Makes you appreciate what you have a lot more.

It finished well after not fishing hardly at all for the first 6 months. I caught my biggest pike 18lb 8oz on the river stour. It was the first pike of the year too. A perfect cast, after plenty of poor ones, put the bait under a floating boat mooring, it took less than 30 seconds after dean said, thats got to be the cast. At sea, i caught about 15 gar fish, at samphire hoe, a new species for me, using a float and trotting down the wall until they took the mackeral strip. Pollock seemed to like it too. The years not over yet though, and im looking forward to a good dab trip at dungy. Iv not had any yet this year, so heres hoping. 2007 EVEN BETTER EH

I suppose 3 bass in a week over 5lb has to be my starting point but fishing with my wife has been nice as has fishing with my father, something I aim to do a lot more of next year (none of us are getting any younger). Bass fishing after a blow on Hayling has been like "the good old days" with lots of fish although nothing big, great sport all the same. Saw my first gilthead bream and tub gurnard on a day trip to hayling in August ( my old man caught them) . Took him back to Portland in the summer too and had a great day wrasse bashing. Watched a meteor shower night fishing and caught 5 bass on big blowlug whilst a guy up the beach caught nothing on rag after coming over and telling us (me and the mrs) that we would be better off using garden worms than lug lol. Last but not least getting 1st class advice from a very good bass fisherman which I aim to use next year.Thanks. Daren
