can honestly say ive never ever had any trouble with leader knots giving way easily.....
the coloured dye used in lines can be detrimental to strength as some lines in some colours seem to break far easier than others .........
opinions on line are so personal with peoples opinions being so fickle......conditions fished, venue etc etc all come into it and the only way of forming your own opinion is to use it and see how it fares for your type of fishing .....
ive been using .......
ultima sea strike 60lb in clear for rigs this year and some of last year......ok some people call it cheap CRAP but it seems ok, supple enough, knots ok and doesnt seem to have hurt my catches
some people swear by ultima f1.........i just swear at it .......dont like it so dont use it
years ago sylcast was king but these days is a bit obsolete, anyone remember that lovely sorrel colour
heres a little list of a few lines and my opinion , but it doesnt mean a thing only to me ;D
ultima tournament.......seems ok, casts ok ....using it at mo
ultima seastrike........ as above but only use it for rigs in heavier BS
tri-line big game ......tuff as f**k
diawa tournament...casts great but can go snappy in the ruff stuff
red ice........ok as reel line once bedded in
ultima f1 .....no thanks
shakespeare aerial
used the red in 18lb......cheap £4 a spool and couldnt grumble
heard really good things about sakuma nite crystal but have yet to try it
all super thin lines with super high breaking strains .........no thanks......
buy by diameter not quoted breaking strains with .35 being the run of the mill beach line....that way it will take a few knocks and bumps
weve all got our own thoughts on line and it also helps to look after it , hairline crack etc in a rod ring etc can ruin it all ..........
some of the cheaper monos do actually perform well as they are usually a little bit thicker than expensive lines and will take a bit of abuse !!
pre-streched etc are fine over clean, clean ground but show them the ruff stuff and problems occour ...
