Have never bought it meself but a beginner mate of mine did. Between the two of us when I was giving a casting demo (with shock leader) the dam stuff busted three times. Then I had a close look at it and it appears to vary in diameter every few feet. We chucked it out and went to buy some Okuma 20 lb instead which I have never had any problems with.

Sorry to say mate but it was the tournament. Not impressed at all. Actually IMO anything less than 18 lb BS is not really for sea fishing. I know some folks use 15lb but I like to know that I have tough stuff on my reel which won't pack up if it gets wrapped round the odd rock or whatever.

I use 25lb marlin line straight through. Its only .42mm so its not a bulky line at all and nice and tough with no need for leader. I would be in my overdraft buying weights if i beach casted with anything less. I use 10lb on my spinning reel but with 20lb leader. It does sound like you had a bum batch eccles but thats the way it goes i guess!

I think all line manufacturers make SOME brands of good line (within reason)....by god, even ultima do a few good ones believe it or not. I guess if it doesnt break, its ok. (thats ultima out of the window then)lol

Yeah Daiwa Sensor is good fishing line, Daiwa Tournament on the other hand - might be good for casting, but it's durability is poor to say the least.
