Thought i would treat myself to a new rucky after my good ole abu garcia one finally gave up the ghost. 7 glorious years it served me....great ruckys! (the one with the attached seat) I purchased a mustad rucky for 25 nicker, great size and nice and comfy to wear....SHAME ABOUT THE BLOODY ZIPS! I have now had 2 zips gone on the pockets . I really cannot be assed with taking it back , the shop is never open anyway ....Take a warning....AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE!

i had one of those mustad rucksacks! bloody crap ,it ripped all round the main zip and then the plastic adjuster on the shoulder strap broke while i was walking back along chale, like it aint hard enough getting back up from there. took it back to scotties and changed it for a salt one, loads better and its cheaper.

save your money, and get a titan matchmans rucksack( you normally also get the coolbag which clips to the top)these bits of kit are the dogs plums!, the only one to rival them are the ones by ian golds(if u can find one!)u can really tell these have been designed by people that actually go fishing, and not by those who think they know what we want!

Like i said before, i had an abu garcia one with the attached fold out seat. It served me 7 years before it practically started to rot and i couldnt keep up with its need for regular TLC That bag went through hell and high water....but i cant find one now. I would have loved to get another. The salt looks good, but no seat........but that has not stopped me cutting the stool off of the old bag and carrying it with me strapped on the part of the bag that is meant for coats / sleeping bags

Did you have the deluxe model that had the arm rest as well? or like mine just the stall with no arm rest! Yeah? I`m not one to say no to such a fine bag! Thanks....... I will admit they were not the biggest, but i could just about get in all me tat. The one i had was beige and green with seat and back rest!

Very interesting to read this stuff gents. It is quite obvious that zip quality is an issue (it has been for me too). I believe that there are not many zips out there which are salt air proof and in the case of my rod bag I greased them up with vaseline which has helped somewhat. In future I am going to pay particular attention to the make/quality of the zips if I am buying something to use on the beach. I recall that those marked "YKK" were always quality and the chunky one on my daughter's wet suit is marked "PK" so I bet that is probably quality too.

www.amazon.co.uk/Swissgear-Hudson-back-pack-15-4/dp/B000VSDLR0/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_topWell I've got to admit that most of these bags ain't really up to it and as I have a thing on bags I am always looking for a good bag! yep, know I can buy a very good quality mountain bag for lots of dosh! that will last years but they ain't fishing bags. you've got to have numerous pockets to make an ideal bag, for me at least? Came across a bag by Wenger (Swiss Army knife people) its a computor bag that is so well made (very well made) with many compartments and pockets, well padded and extremly comfortable to wear, and I don't think the zips will be a problem! Had one now for six months and its ideal. It is a touch too small for extended trips ie extra gear but I have trimmed my gear to suit, though its still capable of carrying most of my stuff in a well organized way. My waterproofs etc get bungied on the outside. It gets a big thumbs up from me. lighty
