Hello all, Wondered if anyone had fished Dungy of late, Im due there Friday & have heard of some good codling reports to Kent beaches ( tackle shop chat!) - can anyone confirm? Are the dabs & whiting going well? Cheers!

Just spoke to Anton from Lock, Stock & tackle (Copnor Rd branch) & he had heard of some of the Kent beaches producing big numbers of small codling to the point that they were out-numbering the whiting! .... Probably all of the Kent coast other than Dungy!

Hi Pete, just returned from dungy, not the best news in the world. I started at 3pm and didn't see anyone catch a fish in the last hour and a bit of daylight. I got my first bite well after high tide, and finished with 6 dabs, and 7 whiting. 4 of the dabs were tiny. All but 1 of the fish were hooked on 4 day old commons that i rolled and froze last week. tiny baits really, on a size 6 and 4 hook. Most of the anglers left the beach early having caught not very much. I spoke with a couple of blokes who didn't sound very optimistic, no codling had come out to there knowledge in the last couple of days. As for other marks around here, there are a few codling, but its mainly whiting and the odd dab or doggie. I'll let you know if any better reports come along, as i speak with a few match anglers regularly. Hopefully a few more dabs will turn up soon, its just a bit hit and miss (like normal then) I'm fishing the 6th green on deal golf course tomorrow, I'll post results in the evening

oh well Mick, it was far from a blank. I've got down to dungy twice in the last few yrs over the xmas / new yr period & the dabs & whiting were plentiful, literally 3 hooks out = 3 dabs back! We would take the better whiting with mackeral baits. Looking forward to tomorows report mate, cheers

Just come back from the 6th green, chequers Inn, on Deal golf course. Had a better trip than most from what we saw. I finished with 17 whiting, 3 dabs and 3 pout, my twin brother kevin had 5 whiting, he was fishing the same as me, but lost or missed a load of bites. We were using size4 hooks with half a black as bait. 4 blokes next to us, did pretty poor, we only saw a couple of fish go to them. So all in all a good trip for us really. Still trying to locate the dab shoals. No codling at all from what we saw.

We caught all our fish in the dark this evening m8. I dont go sea fishing very often in the day, as i think there are 10 times the fish to be had at night or very last knockings of light. The only time i day fish is when i take my kid sole fishing in the summer, and thats only when the water is churned up a bit.
I dont know if it makes much odds, but i cant cast all that far, 70 to 80 yards at most, so i reckon the fish come in closer in the dark and thats why i get a few more perhaps.
