As the sea has been flat calm for the last few days and not much fish activity with the light easterly wind, I decided that we should do a suvey walk at low tide this morning. We walked all the way from IOB to the East Winner: 1. There is a gully around 50 yds out from the IOB which looks like it could be a fish gathering spot. It is at it's deepest about 100 yds east of the pub and we intend to give it a go when the weather perks up a bit. 2. As you walk westward from the pub, the number of lugworm casts seem to increase being most numerous about 200 yds west of the pub. 3. What I did not know before was there is effectively a lagoon in front of the Hayling golf course, not completely enclosed but hopefully a safe haven for dabs and sole as it is very sandy and has some huge piles of slipper limpet which have presumably been washed over the winner during storms. We are talking about 300 yds plus west of the pub. We intend to give this a go with lug/squid after there has been a blow to see what turns up. Has anyone on the forum fished this area recently? Did you get any worthwhile results?

Fished it a lot mate 100 yds east of the IOB was good for big bags of not too big bass recently although i've spoke to a few people who have had 5s and a lone 6 there. Whiting too at the base of the shingle which is like a bank after a bit of a blow. That" lagoon" has bass in it in the summer cos I,ve seen them shore side of me when I,ve been swimming. Had one session in front of the golf course which was not good but the weather was bad too. Thats one big sandbar eh!!
