Fished chesil lastnight, when most of the other so called anglers had gone i had a walk along the beach. WHAT A MESS! Every 10yrds or so you could see exactly were people had been fishing due to-newspaper,plastic ammo bait wrappers, pot noodles, beer bottles, fag packetsl, etc etc. I would love to say it is only a minority of us that leave rubbish but judging by lastnights mess it must be about 80%. SORT IT OUT STOP BEING LAZY BASTARDS AND PICK IT UP AND TAKE IT TO A BIN. OR IS THAT TO HARD?? If you want areas of beach made off limit to fishing then carry on leaving YOUR rubbish. Rant over

Absolutely right mate could not agree more. Sadly half the country looks like a sh** heap because so many folk are idle and and cr**-headed. Whenever I go to the beach, if I find line (v.bad for wild life) or the other stuff you mentioned, I pick it up and take it to the bin. I hate to say this but I bet we have some cr**-heads on this website who are too dumb and idle to keep things smart and tidy. Sean (fishing buddy) gets annoyed about it too; he says "Rick, we have a beautiful country to live in why do so many folk want to foul it up?" There is no answer that I know of; those of us that care will just have to shame them by doing the right things.

"Rick, we have a beautiful country to live in why do so many folk want to foul it up?" There is no answer that I know of; those of us that care will just have to shame them by doing the right things. It's a constant puzzlement to me. I have the naive vew that most sea anglers must be like me - i.e. love the coastal environment and would wish to see it as crap free as possible. Then you see the evidence to the contrary .......

Agreed, even in very remote spots we go to (no bins for miles) we burn what rubbish we have. On the whole its not to bad here, many spots have bins for all the angling rubbsh. Most of the junk on the beach is washed up from boats!

Its everywhere you go, in this country. Yet no where near as bad abroad i think. I fished a river in france for barbel, it split in 2 places and had a big weir etc. The locals used it like a beach as it was 150 miles in land, and at least 200 people use it a day. Yet when the last person had gone the only piles of rubbish were in the bin, proper respect.
It amazes me how many cars in this country have holes in the boot. Every other 1 that drives away from a fishery seems to drop a bag of rubbish from the back of the car. You'd think that after carrying it to the car in the first place, they'd have the energy to put it in the boot. Idle to$$ers!
Canterbury club has a good idea, anyone found to have rubbish in their swim, whether its theirs or not, gets banned. End of story

I mean (you've got me going now), it's bad enough with plastic and other junk that the general population sees fit to chuck in the sea. This is my favourite local fishing area yesterday. I realise that most of the rubbish you can see along the top of the shore is not angling related, but some b@st@rds, somewhere are responsible flinging it thoughlessly away.

If you take a walk along the sw facing beachesround the island you are lucky enough to see ammo pkts, line, squid boxes and mountains n mountains of french stuff and i wondered if there beaches are covered in english stuff ammo pkts scone wrappers n tea bags. Its at a bad level the only place I have seen it worse is thailand n they are a 3rd world country largely uneducated so what is wrong with us? we have been educated and its still trashed!!

in this country we have no respect for anyone or anything. old people get beaten uop for a couple of pounds, our youngsters take drugs, smoke, binge drink in their millions, we have immagrants abusing our own system, we have our own people abusing our own system, bring back the birch for minor offences like litter, swearing in street, disrespect to elders, and other unpunished crimes. with no respect people are doing as they please and it isnt only anglers what aboat birdwatchers, walkers, swimmers, people connected with other water sports, and boats tipping out their refuse, old drift nets, longlines, and worst of poxy dog walkers who allow their dogs to crap on the beach and ruin a days fishing.nothing worse than getting set up to find a turd the size of one of micks groundbait balls to put you off for the rest of the trip. people that spoil the countryside are all lowlifescumbags.

Some charter boat skippers are just as bad. It is not unusual to see all the bait and lunch wrapping being thrown overboard! All it takes is a bag on board to collect rubbish and dispose of it when back on land, not too much to ask is it? Dave

i know i will hear moans but we have no regulation or rules aboat these things it is a free for all and it is being abused.i can go down the beach now and dump whatever i like and there is no one watching me if anyone can justify that i eat my hat.there cant be many pastines so easily abused.if these people had there tackle,or boats confiscated they would soon get the idea.how hard can it be watching a angler on a beach from distance or a charter or other skipper then confiscate the lot.i yhink it happens in aussie but they do pay a licence which so many of you are against.also the bigger the boat or better the equipment the harder the punishment.something has to be done and i never hear any other ways suggested we need to act NOW.

Spot on mate - I fished Chesil last Thursday and the amount of rubbish left by so called anglers was disgraceful - what does it take to pick it up ?
You knew it was anglers by it all being left around the gravel mounds where the buddies had been ....
I put a similar post on some other forums to hopefully prick some conscienses - but I somehow doubt it will !
