I would never have thought of Gran Canaria for ray fishing - there's some bloody nice rays there. There's a tope in the photos further down too. Least I know where our fish go on their winter holidays now!

Have stayed in Puerto Rico many times but only been out twice with different skippers, caught nothing massive but the tuna give a wicked fight! I think most of the shore fishing is done from the rocks from what i have seen there. P.S If your staying at the Riosol say hola to Hector for me

When i was in fuertaventura, the shark and tuna fishing cost about £35 a day. I never managed to secure a seat on any boats, so missed out, but a couple in our hotel got on one the last day. They caught tuna to 80lb, and were the only ones out of all of us who saw the whales and dolphins. I think its pretty much the same in gran canaria, im deffo gonna make sure i get on a boat next time im over there. As for tips, i dont think you'll need any, as the skipper will put you right, even the lunch was part of the ticket price. Good luck if u go, make sure you book as soon as you get there, or you might not fish at all tho.

already booked 2 days!! No the advice was for the beach cause that is what gets me going, monsters off the beach! its meant to be alot better fishing in gran can than fuerta as well and even better at tenireffe..... I guess i will just stick some 10/0's on with a huge bait n sit n wait at night in the deepest rockiest part of the island i can find..

Well I can recommend gran canaria for fishing! Only managed one trip but had a dozen+ barracuda to 12lb and a tuna on light spinning gear and a yo-zuri chrome lure and the father in law a 20lb stinger on a live sardine on heavy tackle good fun will go again...........
