Looking for a bit info on life on the island, in the next couple of months I am hoping to move to another job which will mean working only 3 days a week, and the wife has been talking about moving down to the south coast for a while now. Dont know why but have never thought about the iow before and was wondering what its like living over there?
I would have to go up to london once a week and stay 2 nights (3 days) but wouldnt worry me too much, and wondered how bad the journey would actually be, either train or car?
Also not too familiar with the island so would be interested to hear opinions on different areas.
only 1 condition, would need a marina to moor the boat no more than 15 mins from the house, bungalow or tent !!
Any info appreciated

best bet come over on a cheap deal which the boats are running at the mo, if you have kids this is the place to bring them up yes we have hassles but not like the mainland, I moved off 2 years ago to newcastle n came back within 3 months, the only place i can liken it to is devon/cornwall cost of living has got better over here, house prices are ok, working can be a prob in the winter, make sure you visit in the winter as this is the reality time!! as for harbours you have a few some are better than others by a lot. as for the fishing its good loads of different places to fish, this is a lovely place but the other consideration is the boat prices I worked in southampton for 2 years commuting daily as a foot passenger and had to pay £50 a week! take a car and its £25 a day! but if it was free then i suppose the island would not be so great. As to where you want to live I would choose bembridge it has a harbour and the fishing (as long as you get out the solent) is wicked!!! if you ever come over drop a line n I will give ya a fishing tour..........
