I noticed a few of the guys on here buy stuff through the Ebay auction site. I need to uprate and it does seem cheaper on there. Have any of you used it? Is it safe? Paypal- secure? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not an ebay user Daren, but I've heard some stories to make one wary - like the guy who ordered a well known make of rod at a bargain price only to find when he got it that the label on the rod bag was for what he'd expected, but rod within was some kind of cheap, poor quality copy ! I'm sure there's plenty of satisfied customers, but be carefull !

Ive bought & sold a load of gear through ebay & never had a prob. Bought from Singapore (which is a bit of a risk) & even that was ok. I have heard of a few broken rods arriving due to being poorly wrapped. If you do buy a rod insist that the seller sends it in either a plastic pipe or thick walled cardboard tube.

Thanks Rich, its a 7000 im after but I've never trusted online sellers , they seem "too" cheap. Are lot are worryingly cheap, but a 100% rated ebayer with a good few transactions behind them can be trusted in my opinion. I have bought some of my more expensive bits & bobs through ebay because of the massive savings. You can always chat to the seller via PM. I always upgrade the postage to 'special delivery' or some kind of recorded delivery. I think its a case of being cautious & boxing clever!

I bought my m8 a shimano gte8000b carp reel off ebay, from a 100% seller, item was superb and only £58 with p&p, give yourself a limit though and stick to it. It took me 3 weeks but i wasnt going to pay over 60 all-in. Some people were paying £70 - 75 for the same item, just bide ya time and save a bit

I have bought new stuff through Ebay without any probs. I did however buy a secondhand Abu 6500 which was probably a mistake even at £35. The best was a 6500C3 for £41 new!

Bought a few old Mitchell 600 series multipliers as I have a soft spot for them, all been good, couple of rods including the Abu trolling as above, its carbon composite and a Maximus solid carbon for £30-00!! no problems with ebay as long as you ask questions and check sellers record.

Bought and sold loads including 3 boats and a car ! Good idea from reelbargains to post the link and get some opinons first, Just remember if its worth more than £30 you need special delivery, a few quid more but definatley worth it.
