I am thinking of trying a couple in the bay, could swap for some tackle if you wanted to Go for it! I worked on a potting boat for many years (bloody hard labour). Anyone who wants to lay a few pots .....a bit of advise...... For crab you need deep water, the deeper the better really. Around this time of year , you need to lay them in close for lobsters, as they seem to come within casting distance (see stevies beach report)more than ever. The guy i worked with , done 30 grand over 10 days back in the 90`s from chale/ blackgang ;D Best bait is large pout, skate frames, wrasse and any flat fish. Crab like fresh bait but lobsters like stinky. Pots on! |

thats why i don't use it any more almost popped a bollock pulling it up 30ft and only had a couple of rass in it

Cheers for that Dave, I have a particular area earmarked in the bay where we fish and very ofter turns up crab and lobster on rod and line, but not fished by the commercials... I want to get a few up together for a few of us in the boat club so we can pull them when one of us goes out, and rebaits... I realise the hard work involved  , have crewed for my father-in- law out of Bembridge in the past, and my Dad has pots in the bay. Mick75-Will come and collect in the week, cheers  Dale |

mmmmmm..... if you catch any crab/lobster u don't want i'll be more than happy to 'dispose' of it for u ha ha ha ha ....

Dale, if you wondered why it says `edited by solehunter `at the foot of your post, thats because i keep on hitting the `modify` button instead of `quote`.....i`m legendary at doing this....DOH!!!
What i meant to say in my OWN msg box was...."your father in law isnt archie from bembridge is it"? Thats the only potter i know from there.
