Hi All , I have 1 x Greys PZ match Brand New
Casting Weight
13' - 5oz
Here at Greys, we're hugely proud of this rod which we believe delivers pretty well everything you're likely to need in a match fishing situation. Take it from Alan Yates that this is 'A superb blank - ten out of ten.' The lightweight multi-modulus blank feels like a dream and it fishes like one too. The powerful butt and mid sections give you the ability to blast a lead out huge distances whilst the forgiving tip allows you to put the softest of baits exactly where you want. A parallel butt gives you the choice of reel position, and the sensitive tip has tremendous bite detection. A barely credible ability to relay the smallest touch it picks up on the tiniest dab. Even at range. Even in the roughest water. Despite this, there is still ample power in the butt to control larger fish with ease and the sheer enjoyment of playing fish with this rod is a revelation.
As its one of the last from last years Stock and that all Greys prices are going up I will do It for £160 posted No Offers

Is this the latest version which is a copper coloured blank?, if it is its not a patch on the original UK Made version that Alan Yates gave 10/10 on test in 2001. That one was fitted with Zircons and was a lovely rod for casting/bite detection, the latest model is floppy & dull (bloody awful).

Centurymad I have had the rod for about 6 months Now and have Sold a few of them because of the action on the Rod and Of course the Finish
I can not see any think differnt from the Earlier rods we have had and This Rod is Not Floppy and Dull at All ( It has a great Action ) So may be one of the 1st Models

The Alan Yates review with 10/10 rating was for the MK1 range in 2001,(still got the Sea Angler mag somewhere), the latest range(far east origin) came out in 2002 and got the thumbs down from TSF tests as it wasnt a patch on the original. You obviously didnt stock them as i think you would see the difference, thats all im trying to get across, if Greys are still saying the above comments about the latest version then could possibly be seen as mis-leading..

Conoflex Vampire is a nice rod, bit lighter than the Greys though probably a bit stiffer than the Daiwas.

Greys did take a down turn when shipped out to China. Despite people knocking the Apollo Mk2 (especially), Nitra etc I have only heard positive things about the Syntra which is what I own.
I think some of it at least is just the mental block of using something you know wasn't put together in this country. In terms of composite technology, China are not inferior to the 'new' world but there QC often leaves a bit to be desired.
Having said all that, the original Hardy Greys rods seem to hold a succinct popularity amongst the anglers who have used them from the beginning.

Sorry if I was sounding like I was slating the rod lee, I was slating greys in general ;D Not saying the newer rods are rubbish I just put my opinion across which is they do not use the same quality carbons or the same quality workmanship as they used to produce in Hardy's of alnwick... The new rods seem really thin and the Apollo I bought was not very good at all! cast a dream but couldn't see a bite on it! also had that feeling of it was going to snap under extreme load I think they got to big for their boots with some excellent products and re-location was probably the only option to keep up with demand but at the cost of quality for quantity unfortunately or they just got plain greedy... no probs slipps , i do value peoples opinions .... but must say its probally the most expensive rod ive bought .... as im only used to the sandstorm or the abu esprit ;D ;D ....... when i win the lottery ill upgrade to a zippy or century lol ..... lee.
