I read an article on the net a while back about a stall selling new boat electronics doing the boat jumble circuit. A customer that bought a VHF found a factory check sticker on the radio marked faulty & reported it. It turned out that the entire stalls stock were faulty customer returns & had either been re-sold with faults or had been crudely repaired. Not ideal on safety equipment. It makes me wonder how many other bits of kit like this find there way on auction sites or market stalls. I think I'd rather pay a few quid more & have peice of mind! Food for thought next time that bargain comes up!

You are quite right, although there are 1 or 2 reputable chandlers that do the boat jumble circuits and have saved money buying from my local chandlers at a boat jumble who also have a shop down the road !!!

Agree fully Neil, not trying to worry anyone or put them off boat jumble electronics at all. It amazed me that faulty gear like that made it back into circulation - Just box a bit clever!
