best flies for bass would somthing that represents a baitfish. a good expamle would be: clouser(wetted) surf candandy(wetted) deciever as for mullet i use a bread fly, you can buy similar things in the shops called egg flies but i dont think they will work as good as these I hope this helps, tightlines, scott

throw in some bits of bread first to get them feeding and then cast your fly..... they will fall for it everytime

So........ Would everyone fancy having a bit of a go at freshwater fly fishing first, or do we all meet up in a field to have a bit of a practice at casting then get someone from here who knows a bit about the salt water fly fishing to take us to a productive mark and have a go for real? ??

i have done a bit of salt fly fishing had a few bass and pollock but some advise on bass flys would be great as i dont have a clue and my aim is a big fat mullet on a fly. thanks mick mick im having some mullet flies and bass flies tied for me ready for the spring , if you want a couple of each let me know and ill send them across , ill let henry g give you advice as i know nothing about fly fishing , and im a total novice ....looking forward to it never the less ....... lee. By no means am I a master lee!!!!....self taught really so I am probably doing it all wrong. I used to practice in my mates long back garden trying to land feathers in the paddling pool!...get the hang of it after a while. Id say to anyone starting out to go for an 8 - 9 weight rod with a matched weight forward floating line and practice. Casting is smooth and effortless when you get it right!!

Fulling mill stockists shoul sell the Bread imitations.... they also make a Boneo imitation for the discerning fly angler after carp. I make most of my flies but the ones i buy i get from Carpdirect in West Meon,
So what does everyone think for a little session in the summer then to try for the bass and Mullet?
