Have you caught fish on lures? This has been my first summer concentrating on spinning, I've had modest but encouraging success (caught fish 90% of trips) and I'd like to keep at it but how late, in member's experience, can this still be a viable method? I had an hour down the beach friday afternoon, the water was calm and still quite clear but no luck. So do I keep 'plugging away' or is it time to make with the worm drowning? forgive the pun it's a filthy habit by success I mean plenty of mackerel and a few bass to 2.5lb Mike

In my limited experience November brings the bigger bass inshore and taking very slow shallow lures.

Interesting replies thanks. The calm seas remain round my way so may get a go at the weekend. I've never used flounder spoons, what's the rig / technique?

I had heaps of smallish bass to 1.5/2lbs over the summer in western solent - I reckon they are gone. Went a week or so ago and not a knock. Might be a few bigger ones, so keep trying.

been out today, lots of small bass and gars close in on ebb using angel kiss etc but not one of decent size. Gulls were working it was just like summer out there. I was still getting decent bass on lures in December last year.

The bigger bass seem to prefer the mid springs for the lures and today was a tiny tide the best tides are coming with shiyte weather november has got to be the best month for the big ens, stick with it......
