Never havng handled a Fly rod of any kind in anger,I looked up the names above and.............this sentence popped up Streamer flies are capable of catching just about everything that swims and has fins. They imitate small minnows and such, and that's what a vast majority of fish eat when the opportunity presents itself. Even little fish will pounce all over a streamer that's small enough to fit in it's mouth. So,im assuming that these are flies that are imitating small fry sea fish. ?? Im buggerd if I can see the resemblance but that is just my ignorance speaking..!!!!!!! I like many would like nuffin more than to snag a sea fish from a surf beach/boat be it Bass or Mullet. Good Hunting with em mate. Gazza

They should do the trick on the saltwater fly day. This is what I have been tying , not as slim as yours but they might work

It comes alive when it's in the water. The colours may look odd, but when wet they blend and look stunning, especially in low light. Here's one I tied in more natural colour scheme: and both when wetted:

I tie most of my flies on stainless steel O'Shaunessy hooks (Mustad 34007 & S71S, Daiichi 2546, Tiemco 811s). Other hooks that I like tying on are Mustad C70 'big game light', Varivas 2600 and Gamakatsu SC15. If I want a light hook, I'll use Mustad Aberdeens.
Size wise, the ones in the photo are tied on size 1 (olive) and 1/0 (blue). I haven't felt the need to go over a 2/0 with my flies and the bulk of my fishing is done with size 2 or 4 depending on the dressing and I'll go down to a size 6 if necessary.

What wt line do you use to chuck a 1/0 streamer must have quite a lot of air resistance.

For the bigger flies I'll usually use a #8 rod overlined with a #9 line. If conditions are favourable then I'll use a #6/7 rod. In both cases, I use a 'Singapore' leader to aid turnover. I was happily casting 4" clousers with 5/16 eyes with the #6/7 the other weekend.

Sorry you lapsed into Klingon there...Singapore leader?...not got something to do with Pirates of the Carribean has it?

Singapore leaders are a home brew tapered leader made by twisting the line. It's a great idea that was bought back by a mate on a far east holiday. Popular amongst Aussie swffers too. Easier to demonstrate than describe how to make them though.
