Do you get much on macky around your way in the winter IHW? For that matter....do you get many macky shoal up in wales?

squid and lug cocktail from the boat
but does depend, i went for lug

I agree with Ray, If i had to choose a bait for Gosport/ Pompey that caught the widest range of fish then it would be Rag.
Obviously if you are targetting particular species then you would change baits to suit.

I`ve always had my best sessions with lugworm in the winter. I fish from Selsey to Southampton.

From the boat I think fresh whiting outfishes everything else for whiting (aggresive cannibals!!!), thornbacks and conger. Around the nab end of the island the cod seem to like squid tipped with a slip of cuttle, and they were coming to smaller one squid sized baits mostly.
