does any one know where you can dig/find razor shell fish in gosport, i was walking down stokes bay and found a load of empty shells on the beach fancy giving them a go as bait. appreciate any help ;D pm if you would like it kept a secret cheers lewis

Yes I have used Razor fish a few times and find its a great tipping bait with Worms if you are going for dabs or Flounders .
Or can be a very good bait of you use with A large Lug worm going for cod , I been told that it works best in spots if you see them washed up on the shore.
But I really think the bait is under used

Razors are caught using a little trick: Go down the beach you suspect holds razors at very low water and look for little holes in the sand about the size of a 5p. Apply about a teaspoon of salt and wait for a minute looking for signs of activity. If you have got the right hole, mr. Razor clam will rise out of the hole about 2 inches. Grab it and pull gently but steadily until it lets go and pops out. If nothing at all happens then the hole is possibly a black lug - again a very good bait but you will need to dig down up to 18 inches to find it.
