Hi all. I`m after a few dab this year to get a different species and all that. Its understood that `sticky` black lug is the bait, but how do i prepare it? I have loads of frozen welsh gulley lug....do i let it out of the wrapper for a few days to make it sticky? If so how many days....? Cheers all, if you could let me know a method...i will be greatful. Thanks again

As far as I am aware 'sticky' lug are gutted yellow-tails (blacks) left for 3-4 days to decompose and become 'sticky'.
Never tried it but I would assume you could defrost the frozen blacks and leave out for 3-4 days to make the stickies.....assuming they were fresh frozen?
Have had a few dabs from the plaice grounds off the blocks on frozen black lug this year.....
Hope this helps ;D

on the island u r wasting your time using 'sticky lug', stick to fresh, its the venue u need to find as dabs are fairly rare over here.(the only place i have ever caught them in any numbers is west cowes, down on the beach to the right of the concrete block)i've fished lots of matches where u will catch them on everything IF there about!.i use a lot of blacks that i get from a guy in kent, freshouts and wrapped, and have found the important thing is tom stick with lug! hope this helps!

Seen a fair few dabs from Sandown Pier, usually kids just lowering it over the side. Nothing bigger than around 8 inches long mind.

When I use them at Folkstone in the Spring I get the frozen lug out a couple of days before I go and put them in the fridge also if you refreeze frozen Lug when you get back home it seems to work for Dabs ( well in Kent anyway)
