Im starting to get me head round the fact that "Scent" is the key to sea angling success and not just reliant on visual attraction. Other than fresh or putrid baits to introduce this scent I wondered if anybody uses bottled fish oils to add to there rigs/ baits and if so...... What fish like what .......if any..!!!!!!! from the following. Pilchard oil/Sardine oil/Squid oil/mackeral oil/peeler crab oil and your best catches from using the above.. Pastes ******* Im also intrigued to try and make or buy some sea pastes that have a strong sea bait aroma for use as hook bait or for introduction via your rig....such as wrapping it in and around the lead below............The inline Nobbler range. www.atomictackle.co.uk/leads.htmlOf course this is an inline lead for introducing paste/groundbait around it but im sure it can be modified for sea rigs. Naturally without grips it would be of limited use. Any thoughts or experiences on the above . ? Gazza

they make these they are like a little rubbydubby you fill it with mashed bait,or you can use a washing tablet mesh bag i have used them and caught fish but its hard to tell if it was the ground bait or not that attracted them

I been thinking about trying similar idea. Carp anglers use PVA bags which dissolve in water, was thinking about buying some and attaching them to my line. Got to be worth a go!

Use a D-Vice and half fill it with 'treats' and you'll get a cloud of attractant right where you want it

Got to be worth a go! be carefull they may dissolve too quickly. from the boat i just throw chunks of bait over at slack tide and it seems to work as i have gutted the fish i caught and they had chunks of my ground bait inside them. i have also liquidized squid and mack then frozen the mess around a weight, it seemed to work well for bream. i also keep my hooks in some pilchard oil as it helps to stop them rusting hope this helps a bit

it'll work great for Flounders and for Shore Bream fishing. My mate chucked a few broken lug in the bottom of his the other day and on that cast pulled out a 1lb Dab from a beach that I have never seen one before

I always keep all the guts & freeze them down in the plastic containers that you get from the take away, gaffer tape the lid on, puncture some holes & send it down on the anchor. I would like to have one of the manual mincing machines on the boat, that I could clip on the gunnel rail & grind the left-overs straight over the side. Its all gotta help!

hhhhmmmmmmm over 500 members and not 1 uses fish oils an an added attractant to their baits........im stunned. Must be a selling ploy for fellers just to buy it......... I must be the only 1......lolol as for the pastes well thats a seperate bait idea. Gazza

Hi all, i was wondering, has anyone tried injecting fish oil etc. into bait using a hypodermic needle ?

Best trick we have tried so far is one invented by Fishfingers: He had some old 35 mm film cassette containers, drilled a couple of holes then absolutely stuffed them with bread and minced tuna. We then hung them on our rigs and the first time we tried it the whiting came running - we had about a dozen in half an hour about a month ago. Have not tried it since, perhaps we should with the current paucity of fish.

my dad used to inject pout with pilchard oil and air,it never seemed to improve his catch rate though. he also used to store his hooks in pilchard oil to stop them rusting
