;Dhi each ,has anyone tried and had sucess/no sucess using frozen prawns from supermarkets ,cooked or uncooked.I can remember as a wee lad fishing in Hampshire for the local trout and cooked prawns were the dogs danglies ,,can remember watching trout swim fifty yards upstream to find where the smell was coming from.Wondered how they perform in salt water ,esp interested in the shelled raw tiger prawns ,head off and shelled .

Frozen raw shrimps can prodcue some excellent results, very good for pout, rockling, flatties etc. Live prawns are an excellent bait when float fished at night for bass especially from rockly locations, no good for bass during the day becuase wrasse go loopy on live prawns.

My mate has tried some recently - not a touch although the whiting and bass were taking other stuff.

i have tried them once, not a sniff - not given them a really good try though - you may well catch on them but think other baits for the same money will catch more fish
cheers

I think the problem is they don't give out much scent. I don't think they have much taste either. Cannot understand why so many folk buy them especially as the prawn boats are known to take and kill a lot of small fish like plaice which have far more taste.
