Don't know if i'm going mad or not but i was wondering if you could or might catch anything using normal fat earthworms injected with say some peeler crab liquid you can buy from tackle dealers.anyone tried this or am i going to have to get a disguise and try it ;D

Not used them either, but by all accounts they do the job. I once met a guy setting up down norton wall, he didnt have any bait so he went down freshwater bay with some earth worms, caught some pout then headed down the wall bass fishing with his 6 or 7 pout. Good idea when the frezzer is empty and the vedge patch could do with a little weeding I remember squidhead showing me that tipping a bowl of washing up water with fairy liquid on your garden, brings up earth worms by the handfull!

They often work in harbours or estuaries just after a good flush of freshwater as come down the rivers although as soon as the make contact with salt water they can go very soft.

Must be One of my fav baits, have scored me big barbel lovely fat Chub ...Feisty Striped Perch and In answer to your Q Pouting caught on a handline on Shanklin Pier with Lobbies dug up while sitting in the Keats Inn Pub garden all now sadly gone. Ive tried em Plaice fishing out of Ramsgate but didnt have any luck, they all went very white and washed out..!!! Estuary Fishing for me would be a good place to try as you can get away with a short lob cast so presenting the bait without it exploding would be ok. Eels and Flounder would be my target fish. As for injecting baits,I havnt tried introducing flavour into a Lob worm as I think they already have masses of natural flavour. That said,I have been injecting "Air" into worms for yrs with great success as you can get em balanced off the deck. Sounds odd............looks good in the sink.....believe me.!! Trial and error in the sea though.. ? as I think tides would destroy good presentation........who knows. Good wormy Link...........have a read about air injection. www.fishingmagic.com/news/article/mps/UAN/1556/V/1/SP/328999336760364781484Gazza

Thanks for that skatenchips,i spoke to my local tackle dealer today and he said at this time of year most beginners get very desperate to catch anything on anything without spending a lot of cash on bait. :(i'm guessing i fit in to this area as my local swim is the north norfolk shingle.Roll on next boat trip

When i used to fish the river humber earth worms were a top bait to use, easy to dig and the flounders and eels used to go nuts for them, must admit never tried them down here but might give it a go when the flounder season comes around again, best used on very short casts
