sorry, brief report & no pics like the last one: Fished Holes Bay on Saturday for a few hours. Launched from the new slipway next to the RNLI headquarters - its been designed for launching dinghys - I think the local small boaters were miffed this new slipway is not suitable for them - there are not many slipways in the harbour as it is. There is very limited parking down there but I managed to grab a space. The slipway is in Holes Bay itself so no need for a paddle round. I fished at anchor and on the drift using float. The crabs were out in force - glad I brought the float with me. No fish or bites - was also slow for an angling boat fishing near me - they'd managed one small flounder fishing 5 rods and left at the first high tide. Pleased I got some time on the water before the weather starts playing up again.

side note - by the time I'd got out there it was approaching the first high tide. I feel I should have been out fishing on the run up when the water would have been moving more. Also there were a few boats dragging for worms and I wonder if the flounder in my patch were full feeding off the freebies being dragged up by the boats?

Its good to see a post from Poole Harbour, not that I know Holes bay.....psstttt where is that exactly. I use to go out of Poole for mixed specie days with the mates from work but never got to fish in the actual harbour as the weather wos always good enuff to go outside the Harbour. Always fancied a drift for flatties at Poole, well dun you on at least gettin out there mate. In good time well have to get you to do a Virtual earth mark on where you go and the slips you use to get afloat. Gazza

unlucky you said about lymington have you tried there? The last creek on your port side before you get into open sea is a real good bet.See the same boat fishing there quite alot at this time of year for along time now so he must be catching. Also good chance of Bass as they are still feeding in estuary at the mo, can give you the numbers. Andy

Holes Bay is in the harbour just north of the town centre. A few good ones come from this area each year: Andy, I've fished around Lymington mainly targetting smoothhound during the warmer water months. I've seen flounder caught along there and my friend caught a nice one from his kayak. I find flounder give a better account of themselves when caught afloat than from the shore - they seem to fight a lot harder (or at least it feels that way). If you could PM some numbers that would be great I'll check the location on my chart.
