Had a nice early start saturday up at seven to check everything was ready to go for first trip of the year, was planing to go in sandown bay to test out the new fish finder and gps that have been new additions over the winter, but on arrival at yaverland it looked a bit to rough and didn't fancy trying to get ashore at high water with it being a tad lumpy so carried on round to bemberidge was greeted by a nice flat sea in close . . got all set up and on the water by half eight paddled about for about an hour just testing the fish finder out which worked well and will be a useful addition now as i wont be fishing blind, found some nice rough ground about 1/4 mile out 20ft deep and in between some boys so decided to Tie up to one of them and have a fish for half an hour, not a good start defrosting the squid and it fell out off the tub so spent the next five Min's paddling about after it got most off it back, no bites at all here so decided to just paddle about up to the life boat station and around there till high tide then paddled back, all in all a good first trip off the year even if i didn't catch was out for four hours in total and paddled just under four miles. . . .

Great build up and pictures shame the fish didnt wanna play ball on the day. Did your FF show much on the screen in the way of fish ..?? Im interested to know how your Eagle defines fish/shoals from weed/flotsam if at all. I guess it must have indicated summit for you to have tied up to the buoy. Good practice ....none the less ....keep at it mate. Gazza

Gazza a few fish came up on it now and then not too sure on the weed- fish difference as this is the first time i have used one. i did paddle up to a bigger buoy and the fish finder went nuts every time i paddle round it, then i realised that it was some kind off weather buoy that was giving some signal of,f silly me thought i had found a hot spot javascript:add("%20;D") Grin

Er sorry to butt in but have same fishfinder, do have trouble in telling difference between bladder rack, bubles and fish. For instance a large rock will often show a shoal sheltering in lee but I think not. Trouble is my boat is only 10ft and it is difficult to get it level enough to use fish arches which are more accurate for showing genuine fish. Anywat I got it to show the bottom really. Geat post Danny, thanks.
