Bought a Diawa 5500g a while back for £20 which seemed a great price for a Diawa. Have actually now used it a few times and it seems very smooth. No casting problems as it has a fairly deep spool skirt unlike some the other Diawas. You don't get a spare spool but as the spool is graphite and therefore sea-water proof I doubt if I will need one. It has 3 bb's and the front drag goes on hard with only a few turns. The spool is fairly wide and is tapered which gives trouble free casting. At the price I would recommend it as a good cheapy. Got it from Reelsndeals.com

Sad to say that the bale arm came unscrewed last night and the roller disappeared on the beach somewhere. Managed to screw it back together but minus the roller. The lesson of course is that when you buy a new piece of kit, always check that all the screws/nuts have been well tightened. I knew that already but forgot to do it on this occasion. It is still a nice reel but will have to hunt around among my bits and pieces to replace the roller.
