Salt Water Fly Fishing, have we any members with any experience? I would love to give it ago, especially with the better small bass in abundance, there surely cant be a better way to catch them. Glorious still super-early mornings upto your waste in a mirror-like sea, it must give you a complete different outlook & understanding of bass. Any knowledge welcome

I'm very keen to get started on this too. I've done a little bit of flyfishing on ponds for rainbows and an even littler bit up in Scotland on lochs for brown trout, so I have the basic idea. Here's a link that may be of interest: www.bass-fishing.co.uk

Why stop at bass when mullet and mackerel readly take a fly. There is nothing like catching mackerel salt water fly fishing. One of the best places I have been salt water fly fishing is Florida, where I only used to swff. ;D

I wonder if they operate a catch and release policy as they are talking about catching 2000 bass in 2006! And that was 10% down on the average! They didn't give any clues about end gear I notice - just what rod and reel to use.

Ive been fishing for twenty years give or take and i can honestly say that SWFF is THE most satisfying form of angling ive ever done and ive tried it all. I love all forms of fishing from beach to boat and everything in between and im by no means an SWFF expert but the amount of learning and research etc you have to put in makes it worth while. SWFF is so far removed from anything else ive tried that it becomes all consuming, PeteB will testify that when we are out on the boat i often ditch the conventional gear and switch to the fly rod coz one fish on the fly is worth a dozen on a bait.
I cant speak for the Bass-fishing site but in my experience MOST SWFF'S practice catch and release..................................if anyone is intersted there is stacks of info out there at the moment on the net and dedicated SWFF books, its the fastest growing arm of our sport so give it a try but be warned it may change your view of all fishing, it has mine!
