Found out last week by accident that if you hook and unhook cuttle fish with wet hands you don't go home looking like you've been hand painting with black paint!
Most people probably know that but for thoughs that don't, it's good information..

Another tip..... if you do catch them get rid of em' quick before they cover your boat in ink ugh!! They seem to be every where at the moment. Always worth keeping a few, freezing them quick and bringing them back out in october for the cod and bass.... great bait!! Arron

Great eating, very similar to squid. Cut into strips and pan fry for a few minutes in garlic butter. Also an excellent bream bait every bit as good as squid but because they are tougher the fish cant rip them off the hook.

what do you use to catch them then? I think you use squid jigs and also get them on dead baits, I'm sure someone else can answer that properly. I've not caught one before, I just use them for bait.. Steve

seen quite a few caught recently just dangling a live pout over the pier hooking the pout threw the top fin. and they just hold on but u need a net to lift them up onto the piers . also the ones i have seen caught over the last few weeks seems to be in the second half of the tide running in.

You probably already know this but If you leave the cuttlefish in the landing net for a little longer than normal they will usually get rid of their ink in the net and not on the boat! saved us hours when cleaning down at the end of the trip. I like cooking em quick thai style. Either stir fry for 2minutes or stew for 2 hours.

Eat the sleeve bit like a squid. Cut it thin and fry very quick if you do it too long you will be better off eating tyres.

Just like Richard says but you can eat the tentacles aswell but make sure you trim off all the membrane first.
