Raider 18 with a 75hp Mariner two stroke, 25 knots max with 3 anglers + gear.
This weekend done approximately 18 N/miles, never exceeded 20 knots, 12 knots through the sloppy bits and used a tank and a half.
Approximately 36 ltr's used = 0.5 N/mile per Ltr.
I know its not good but how does this compare to others economy?

are the e.f.i and etec engines the same as four strokes as regards to fuel economy

Its funny, our last boat had an almost identical Mariner 75 2 stroke, it was a much lighter 17' open boat and we would do the same trip for a single tank (approx 26 ltr's) therefore getting 0.7 N/miles per ltr.
I suppose a reduction of 0.2 is fair given the increased weight and cabin of the raider.
If we do a 50 mile round trip wrecking, we're going to need 4 tanks + 1 for luck! ....+ a re-mortgage!

Took the fastnet 17 from Northney to the Hounds and back with 2 Up , thats about 20 miles. 50Hp Honda 4 stroke. 8 knots up and down for 10 miles and then 15Kts out to the hounds, trying to get best economy. To my suprise i used just over half a tank  |

Mile per ltr @ 25knts
Raiders dont like 12 knts pete keep it on the plane and the nose up a bit lot more comfortable and your get lot better mpg out of it................

thats bad pete my old boat was a coast worker 21 with cab top speed 35 kn cruise 25 with a 110 hp v 4 johnson a round cod trip was 14 miles always got back in on 25 L AND THEY WERE SUPOSED TO BE JUICY!
Would check your carb also as sharkey sais always keep on the plane you can feel it when its right not pulling or holding back.

Sold! what are you getting out of your four stroke Karl? on a long run at 18 knots under 1 litre a mile but if it is a bit lumpy or i want to get there faster a tad over 1 litre a mile ;D i once got 36 miles non stop out of a 30 litre tank going with the tide and a flat calm sea |
