Ah thats the old "golden mile" that was suggested some time ago now, seems like a good idea to me but an even better idea is the 55cm proposal. The fishing around these parts would definitely benefit from a mile of sanctuary given that the IOW would get a mile too protecting a lot of the solent between the island and the mainland. It would stop boats netting in the lee of the island too during strong S-S/W winds. Any laws passed to stop netters who have earned a fortune out of our fish stocks is good in my book.
