i have used them just above the hooks and they do work for some species, unfortunatly they work best for poor cod and pout. whiting like them too i have found out.
i use them bellow a floating bead when i fish my club matches, as we go by species % only the biggest of each species counts (so generally speaking the more species you catch the more chance of winning), a rig that kills for pout is very useful.
