Hi everyone Just been pointed here by squidhead, bless him. Been told you may be able to help me find a fish or two on the Isle of Wight. I'll be arriving on Saturday next week and will hopefully have a couple of evenings that I'll be able to get my Father in Law and son to get out to wet a line. If anyone knows of a mark with reasonable access (FIL is 69) which may throw up a bit of dinner, I'd be obliged Cheers Huw

There are plenty of `drive in` marks, some better than others but your location would be handy as you may have a good spot on your doorstep. If driving is not an issue, try... Fort victoria yarmouth common gurnard/cowes seafront St helens bay seaveiw yaverland brook bay freshwater bay

I'll be staying at Whitwell near Ventnor. a local mark for a quick nip out while the women do "stuff" indoors would be fantastic. Cheers Huw

For a `get out quick`session, ventnor beach would be a good bet. I have never fished it to be honest but it does look good to the right hand side of the new harbour there. I think its mixed ground of rock and shingle. I would imagine you would have a good chance of a bass fishing close in at night time with a large bait, and maybe a ray at distance. Also worth a go would be `yaverland` just outside of sandown. Its easy to find as all you do is drive past the zoo to the car park at the end and fish from your car. Fish at distance for rays or a reasonable chance of a plaice.
