I have digested a lot of what has been said already.but living inland Nr Heathrow.... i dont get the opportunity to go often enough and also pick up local knowledge on the venues i try. I have a good friend that is also a converted"Salty"and we both want to learn what we can from you guys. VENUES....fished so far Southsea/Worbarrow Bay/Chesil Beach Thanks to all in advance...

Hi Dean, thanks for the welcome !!!! Me too mate.started river fishing on the Thames at 7 yrs old and loved it. Have always been drawn to the sea though mate !!! Im gaggin to get down there again..no matter where.ive spent the last few nights making up rigs !!!!! aint exactly light swim feeder fishing is it My main rig line is now a good tow rope standby..!!!!!!!! ive copied rigs from the forum...god knows if they will do the bizzz. Anyway..as i mentioned swimfeeders That can be my first Question to all.. Do any of you use one in sea angling, and if so is it a home made jobby or are there any available commercially. ?? and......does anybody know of a dried concentrated sea bait/additive that could be put in a PVA bag and attached to your rig to help with scent on the sea bed. ?? I know these are probably old questions !!! but any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fellers Thanks for the welcome !! good to know that groundbait is a part of beach fishing albeit not sure yet how to get it out there with my rig.......!!!!!!! thinking cap on as for carp fishing ...sorry unless it was running water...bought up within a stones throw of the Thames...thats it. my/our last trip was last sunday Worbarrow Bay poole angling told us.."dont worry about the tide being wrong" its deep water !!! famous last words needless to say 3 bites "no fish",tried a whole squid close and rag 70yds on advice as we left a local was just arriving at dusk, say no more. gimme local knowledge every time. hence racking you fellers brains about tactics and tackle, im sorry to say Southsea was last oct 1x plaice with the help of the fella in Lock Stock and tackle who advised "cable ties round the breakaway wires" thats some tide there aint it !! and yes i too look forward to enjoying the chat .

Hi all,am thinking of going to southsea this sat...Easy tide table sez 11.14 HW Last Oct i fished in front of a pitch and putt golf course, but wos also told adjacent to the sub barrier blocks may be worth a go. Is this area called Eastney ?? as i have read there may be a few fish biting. Living at Heathrow its a fair punt down, but like all anglers when she that must be obeyed sez clear off for the day....ima coming !!!!! I was gonna fish the same tactics..(dunno any different) ie fish from 2hrs b4 till 2 hrs after HW..both rods 2 hook flap with rag and cast as far as my freshwater over the shoulder lob will allow me.<<(bad back) I am really getting into all your threads on various issues but the point made about winter fishing (doldrums) dont bother etc..... have made me ask you b4 i venture out this wkend. Is it worth trying for plaice down there at the moment.? or shall i keep shining my tackle ...looks nice in the cupboard.....not if there is another venue you think worth going to...... im game i can report on what i find.... circumstances only let me fish during daylight tides for the present...

Hi Gary - welcome . It's true you have joined us at the 'doldrums' time, but as time passes now towards the end of March things should slowly improve. Eastney (you are correct with location) has started to see the arrival of some plaice - including a 4 pound plus beauty (seen on another forum), so it is worth a try, although don't expect to be too busy with bites ! Shoal bass are around too - especially after this blow we're having, although they might feature more at night. Others on this forum are more knowledegable about Eastney/Southsea than I and may have some tips. Have you considered South Parade Pier ? Andy Colmer is a member here and a regular on the pier - have a look at some of his catch reports. I'm sure if he's looking in he will pass on some ideas about that. Good luck if you come down on Sataurday .
