I broke my tiny little Daiwa Shogun Z stalking rod whilst breaming a month back. Its worth knowing that Daiwa promise to be able to supply its customers with any component to any rod 5 yr's after its discontinued, complete butt or tip sections included. Unfortunately because the one that I broke was an export model Daiwa did not have any spares but the good people at Daiwa Sports UK provided me with todays Uk market equivalent for the price of the butt section I required - £24, not bad for £80 worth of rod! Well impressed

Well done them! How are they generally for spares/backup ? I was thinking of things like reel spares/repairs.

Thats exactly how customer service should be, others should take note. It may sway me in future.

I was surprised that when I ordered some spare brake blocks, I was given credit and invoiced a month later. I'm not sure if it would have been the same for something more expensive but they are generally a very generous and friendly organisation to deal with.

A few years back I had an accident with a Whisker Kevlar Tournament beach rod resulting in a few rings being broken.I took it to a tackle shop on the South Coast that did re-whipping and asked them to replace the rings; the end result was absolutely appalling with the rings not in line and the varnish cloudy a real "pigs ear"!!! Swallowing my pride i sent it off to Daiwa with a note explaining what had happened and asked if they could do anything 3 days later a brand new rod arrived free of charge (In the interest of customer relations) I was gobsmacked as the rod cost me £275 in the first place. Needless to say I cant say a bad word about Daiwa!!
