hi im going to fit a navman fishfinder is it ok to fit to transom and how is it best sealed , i could do without any leaks ;D,regards dave

It is ok to fit a transom transducer as long as you have an outboard and not and inboard engine. The transducer has to be infront of the prop or the disturbance of the water will kill the signal. Normally drill the holes for the bracket as per instruction and put a squeeze of silicon or sekaflex in each hole before screwing the screws in place. Make sure you have aligned the base of the transducer as per instructions so that you get minimal disturbance from the hull.

i would just use sikaflex, as its designed for marine use, but of course because of that it retails around £10 tube! I resealed my saltwater inlet gubbins with it, bloody messy stuff, but very effective
