are mussels and normal limpet(not slippers) any good for bait and how can u get them out with out damaging them for effecting there bait quality

normal limpets are good for bass and wrasse and i use mussles(smashed up) for ground bait some times for plaice and bream.
to get the lipets out i kick them off the slipway and run a sharp knife round them and it drops out
