i found if you are planning on using rag the next day get some dry beach sand the powder stuff that gets into every crack when you sit on it. roll your rag in it and dust your bucket with a little. i have a old baking tray my wife gladly let me have and this then goes int the fridge. the fridge does not need to be to cold as this can some times damage the worms as they are used to being in water that is about 4 or 5 degrees. i do not use paper any more as i found that the chemicals used to make news paper did not agree t the worms. if you had a stinking one there it kills every thing in sight. every one has thier way of keepig bait fresh but i find this works well for atleast two days. oh you need to keep changing the sand every day as the slime they produced rots and kills them too

yeah i found that works quite well, but you have to keep them cool as the sand will obviously heat up. what i did when i kept them with sand was to put them in water while your digging them, then when youve finished drain off the water and keep sprinkling sand on them and rolling them in it until the sand goes moist, not too wet but not too dry.

Ive dug St Helens Ragworm since 1970,always put em in a bucket of fresh seawater as I dug them, when I,d dug my quota I would empty out the water they were in,remove all the sh1t,rinse them off a couple of times with fresh seawater, leave them in a few inches of water at the bottom of the bucket put some fresh bladderwrack on top that hadnt been pi**ed on by half the canines in St Helens, take them home, take them out of bucket and into an old plastic sieve, pour the seawater over them and let em dry for a few minutes, lay the weed out on a plastic tray which Ive lined with a nice cheap crappy newspaper(the Sun is ideal)and then place the worms on top of the weed and put them somewhere cool and dark,Ive never had them die on me and I still employ the same method...............when I can be arsed to dig them but with todays fuel costs its almost as cheap to get them from Union Sports!!!
