Hi guys, i'm after buying a new headlamp. Preferably one of the led type to save on batteries and weight.
I have a petzel zoom with the battery that clips on your belt, it's now 20 years old and although its been superb and never let me down. I'm starting to get fed up of the battery weight.
Now i know nothing about the LED type and have looked on fleabay and there seems so many claiming to be the best, just want a recommendation please.
Money wise i don't mind spending a bit if it will last, but also don't mind getting a cheap one if i know i might only get a year or two out of it.
Any help much appreciated thanks.
Mike

That was quick.
Read the first one and thought that's great that's the one. Then read the second and thought that's great too, so still not sure.
But thanks at least i know i can get either. Probably the first one that looks very small and i know petzl last

I've been fishing with a cheap (£6.99) LED for the last two years NP also works good with rechargeable batteries so have yet to buy any replacements. All LED's are the same (made in China) so the make of the lamp is pretty well irrelevant. There are various combinations of switching so work out which is best for you then nip in your nearest Wlkinsons/B & Q/whatever and don't pay more than £10 because it won't make a scrap of difference. Mine has three switch positions - one LED on then three and finally five. I rarely need to use the three LED switch and have never used the five.

If you want cheap led lights of any form look at this selection. ledshoppe.com/ledheadlight.htmFree delivery and you can use paypal. Delivery takes a few days as it's from Hong Kong. I also have a Petzl one that was about £20-£25 which is pretty good but i personally find it too bright and only use it on the least amount of led's.

Keep your eyes open at the local petrol station for these lamps. I bought 4 not too long ago for 2:99 each. They are the 1, 3, or 5 versions and take aaa batteries. I use rechargeables which are currently available at Lidl's for 1:99 for a pack of five. Never had a problem with these lamps and recommend them highly

I dont think SILVA 3 watt is the brightest, because I believe HOPE do a 5 watt led version and we all know that HOPE is brill or those that ride bikes do. Think that they retail over a 100quid but supposed to be the business Myself I use an LED Lensor headlamp which is much brighter than my mates PETZL, I have also got one of those 1/2/5 things which cost a couple of quid and which runs forever on three aaa's which I use as a basecamp light.
