This rod is a three piece job made of IM7 Carbon and is rated
4 - 8 oz. I decided to buy it because I could not quite believe that one could get such a rod for the princely sum of £60 but I was prepared to take the risk. I have been using it for about two weeks now and I can honestly say that it has completely exceeded my expectations: It casts well over 100 yds with ease (Fishfingers had a chuck and did around 200 yds but he is bigger and younger than me). The rings are SiC and set in a tough "shock absorbing" plastic. The rod has an all black finish and a very useful feature which I have not seen before - the finish is left bare for about 6 inches immediately above the joints so that it is easy to separate the sections in wet and slippery conditions. It comes in a rather posh carrying tube with a sling too. It sits well in the wind as you might expect and bite detection is superb - even picks up the tiny rattle of a sardine size bass. I shall be buying another as soon as I can afford to because a three piece is so much easier to transport as far as I am concerned. I was thinking of a Penn Powerstix but this rod beats the Penn hands down as far as I am concerned.
