Going to fish the spit at LW tonight - gets you out 200/300 yards into the water ! Important bit though - does anyone know for sure if the tide comes in behind you ? (dont think it does but dont want to get my hair wet )

Yep, you'll be OK Rob. Does move a bit quick at times so you might be busy re-seting your rods / rod rests ! Good luck .

Well what can I say, pretty dire really .....
Fished 2100-0200 HW0330 so LW up
Got out onto the spit but it was Angler city - must have been 6-8 others already there so the end of the spit was full so had to fish along the eastern edge into the shallow water - not what I wanted to do but either that or go home !
Really slow going, walked the tide back in at around ankle deep till the spit was covered - 2 or 3 of the other anglers stayed out ..... mad ! They eventually waded in knee deep - braver men than me gunga din - they obviously knew how long to stay out - I was happy at ankle deep !
Anyway as I said, really slow night - one Pout & one Pollack ....
Fished sandeel on 1/0's for any Rays and started the second rod later on with rag and got just the 2 fish - ran out of rag & bored so came home ...
One of the blokes that came off had a Pollack and there was just one cheer all night from the others - not sure what he had but it seemed to be the only other fish caught ...
As the saying goes ... Not the best of nights but I didnt blank !

Good try Rob - you never know till you try ! I've known guys to wade out there until they are chest deep, and try to put out big casts ! . They are usually after the smoothounds. Rather them than me, but I know some big ones have resulted from it - so 'who dares wins !'.
