Not heard of any yet Rob. Early still, but if this weather keeps up I'll be prowling up and down the wall with a dexter wedge on suitable evening tides ! I'll keep you posted.

It's the long sea wall on the west side (Gosport) of Portsmouth Harbour entrance. It runs virtually from the mouth of the harbour back towards Gilkicker point. It slopes steeply down to the sea and has pretty deep water in front of it. Good spot for spinning for mackeral and bass in the coming months !

Thinking of taking the kids there soon, whats the general fishing like? Whats being caught at the moment? Hi Mike, and welcome to the site . Re: Haslar Wall - I haven't fished it recently (despite living very near), I think the last time was a night session back at the end of January when I had some quite decent pollack and bass to about 2 lb. Perhaps some other members will have more up to date info ! General fishing wise, it can be OK here for ledgering close in - especially at night - for bass. A good sized mackeral or squid bait can do the trick. Spinning with lures and plugs in the evenings or early mornings during summer can be good too. You can get a run of smoothounds in late spring/early summer to crab and ragworm - with a decent cast out. With the kids in mind - it's good fun to float fish over high water - try around the big bolders you can see near the Monkton (west)end of the wall. You can pick up pollack, wrasse and school bass. PS - can be snaggy - especially nearer into the wall !
