simple as the better species were all kept for food doggie's thrown back then exploded in population taking over the food and now are dominant species. They used to be kept at bay round are way by common skate, but they are long gone the only predator I know that eats dogfish. They are so hardy as you knw. Andy

Don't know why folk don't eat them, they are very tasty provided you bleed them shortly after catching. Have not seen one on Hayling since last November when we caught 6 in one night.

the best thing is a cull,we keep them and give them to a wellk potter so we can get hermit crab's and eating crab when we want a few. They need a cull to reduce the feeding pressure on the ground to let other fish have a chance to feed and take up residence, well that's my view.

i agree with you squidhead what damage is being done to our cod and bass stocks by these dogs,if they are feeding on the fry then maybe this is another reason for a decline in fishing, and of course lack of tilleys on the beach. imagine the headline in your local paper local dogs to be culled, half of deal would not go out for 6 months.lol. anyway going to football now with kids our team have chance of winning the ryman div 1 so COME ON YOU WHITES.
