I used to operate a small commercial boat out of Whitby but only used to fish with a rod. My best day in terms of total catch was 111 stones of gutted Cod to 1 rod. These were generally all small fish so I was fairly busy.
Another day I had a couple of mates with me and by late afternoon we had caught virtually nothing but chose the right wreck and took about 100 stone in a couple of hours. We landed 134 stone of gutted Cod. One of my mates had never been fishing before and has not been since. He thinks that was just an ordinary days fishing.
