dont mess around with 2 hooks, just put a treble hook through its nose if you want to keep the bass. if you want to release it swap the treble for a single 6/0 as it will be easier to unhook. from the beach you can cast out a grip lead with no trace on your line, then attach you live baited trace to your line so the live bait just slides down on your line. doing this you can use a longer trace and you wont kill the bait by casting.

Karls advice is spot on , i always use a pennel when fishing from the quay , lip hook the pout on the top hook ,and tail with the bottom hook , only because of all the debris you have to battle the bass around to get it up

if you got any piers you fish on, get a flimsy rod, put a 1 oz ball weight up line with a bead and tie swivel. then get some line on other end of swivel. cut it off about 3 ft and tie 5/0 hook (depending on size of livebait).
then put on lievbait. can either be small to medium sized pout, pollock, small wrasse, blennies. pout and pollock seems to work best as they move around quite a bit and entice the bass.
flick the livebaiting trace under the pier, pontoon etc
