HI guys went out with the intention of catching a cod or anything else swimming around on the the bottom off culver, annoyingly there wernt any pots out far off culver so i had to settle for one close in, not a lot happened apart from a little bite and then strike only to find it bit my hook off, no prises for guessing what that was. gave it a hour or so then packed up, the wind got up slightly and put a bit of chop on the water so i decided to go after Bass instead with the rapala, caught 10 altogether 6 off culver right under the cliff literally 30m from the base and 4 round by the red wing boys, as well as 2 small pollock,1garfish, and one mackerel that i put on as live bait for a time with no luck. 4 of the Bass were keepers 1x5lb 2x2lb and one just in size which i wouldnt normally keep but it was the first one i caught and wanted to make sure i had one for my mum to eat. had a hours break sat outside the cafe at white cliff with a cup of coffee,it was very pleasant down there today. also had a garfish jump out of the water 1m from the kayak which scared the hell out of me lol, so all in all had a good day, the 5lb Bass put up a dam good fight, and it was a very dark Bass on top when i first saw it from under the surface i thought it was a pollock or wrasse, thankfully it was neither and was a bass.

Nice session mate, from what I have read on here, it's looks like a cracking season for Cod this year, so it's just a matter of time Mark.

went out for a couple of hours after work and caught a couple of Bass on the lure 1x2lb and a small one that went back, good fun and great evening for it, and personally I'd rather fish for Bass than Cod any day of the week, i love the lure fishing with light gear, but cod fishing is good but big leads against lures rod in the hand, no competition. But im looking forward to the challenge of catching a Cod from a kayak. I'll be up early tomorrow after Bass. I'd of loved to catch my 30lb 11.5oz Cod from the kayak lol would be a great ride.
