Just started fishing again, last time was about 30 years ago when I was a teenager. The reason being , my teenage son has got interested. We bought some freshwater gear last year when on holiday in France and now son wants to go sea fishing. We had a crack down at Cowes sea front (Egypt Point ) last September and caught five small wrasse apiece. He now wants to try for something like flatties, mackerel or bass. Any advice from the Island folk for safe marks with a reasonable chance of catching stuff on light gear would be helpful.
thanks

Fish on the sand patches near the toilet block. It maybe a good idea to have a look where to go at low tide and fish it up doing the last 3 hours of the flood in darkness. You should get away with light gear if the tides are not that strong. Yaverland is a nice comfortable mark where you can fish from your car. Light gear will be no problem if the sea is calm. Good chance of plaice or the odd small bass.
