this rod or at least the top half that goes with it. i snapped the tip a few months back down seaview. i loved that rod, i was able to get ok distance with it as it had that special bend. i bought that 4 £30 2nd hand at least 2 years ago now so it lasted a while

Hi Adam, a repair to the tip section on such a rod as this is not an option. To repair it it would have to have an internal sleeve running at least 6" either side of the break, and re-inforcing whippig over the blank above the sleeve. This in turn would kill the action of the rod, and finding a sleeve strong enough would be nearly impossible, the closer to the tip the repair the weaker it would be. It sounds as though you would need a replacement tip. It might be worth trying Daiwa, even if they have a return tip section (broken rings etc), you could get that for a cheaper price than new, and be up and running again. Belinda

TDPKs are old legends of rods, very affordable and a very good alround rod, if anything i would say it would probably a nicer tip.
Ive got a old 12ft TDPK, it was my first proper rod, caught a 9lb bass on it on my first trip with it when i was about 12 ;D, has caught a good few bass since including 8lb 8oz fish and a 9lb 9oz fish, couldnt let it go through sentimental value ;D

Daiwa sure do make some nice poles. May get me one when the need comes along! If your gonna look at getting a daiwa rod i would recommend the older versions like the AWB, AWT, WKT or powermesh all of which have glass tips (great bite detection) in my and others opinions, far superior rods to the new models that are built with carbon throughout and lack the sensitivity in the tip.
