AnimatedKnotsDid it in a different style for you. (url=http://www.animatedknots.com]AnimatedKnots first bracket should also be square but i think this is a far easier way of doing what you wanted.

Gazza, The method is to take your web address www.gazzasgut.co.ukput url= in front of it url=http://www.gazzasgut.co.uk encase it in square brackets [ ] i will use {} so u can see it then add you text after {url=http://www.gazzasgut.co.uk}guts are us then add a {url=http://www.gazzasgut.co.uk}guts are us{/url} to give guts are usso to recap {url=mywebaddress}text{/url}

Paul...........for the techno idiots amoung us(me) how do you make the link into a single word as you did for furdy on this post. remember to write an idiot guide though... Cheers Gazza Gazza, A little late with my reply, Jeff has put a clear explanation but i did try and put it in my post with the line starting with a ( rather than a [ just so you could see the entire line in one go. Jeff has broken it down a bit more. In addition you can also add the image command and replace the word with a pic instead and then be really clever so for example if i wanted to use one of your new forum badge images and turn it into link to the thread like so we would just need to expand a little on Jeff's explanation, i know you already know how to make a link and i know you can add a pic so you should follow. just remember that i have replaced [ with ( and ] with ) so you can see. So the straightforward link would read (url)http://www.beachandboat.co.uk/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=8523(/url) and will just show that all as a link. To extend it as Jeff explained we need to define it a different way so we tell it (url=http://www.beachandboat.co.uk/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=8523) which sets the link enabling us to add more detail, to make a link with different wording it just needs that different wording to follow on before we close the url command with (/url) To use a picture instead of words we replace the words with an image command (img) so that we end up with (url=http://www.beachandboat.co.uk/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=8523)(img)http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t22/skatenchips/P1080729.jpg(/img)(/url) For a different look at some of these commands and how they can be used have a look at the list HERE as i think it is well described in thse listings, study them Gazza and see if you can work out the command combination i used to make that word "HERE" bold, red and a link. If in real doubt after reading both of the links shown here by Jeff and myself just ask again and hopefully one of us will be able to help you further.

Its worth pointing out that these are bulletin board (bb) codes and can be used on the majority of forums, there are some exceptions such as WSF do not allow linked pictures in the signature area but i believe you can in the main post area on WSF. You can still change the words to a link in a signature on WSF i believe.
Dave and i tested this site and linked pics work in both the post and signature area so it will be a case of trying it depending on where you are trying to use them.
The link placed by Jeff is for HTML coding which can be a little more work but is also a fair bit more adaptable.
Also apologies to Furdy, i dont think any of us deliberately tried to hijack his thread but it has kind of gone that way, Note to Mods if you want any of this written up for a seperate stickied thread somewhere let me know and i will try and write an easier to follow set of instructions for each type.
