We had a cracking day in the yaks on Saturday. I was out all day dawn till dusk and Dicky joined me for half a day due to work commitments. We had around 120 Black Bream but also hit a shoal of Couches Bream, beautiful looking and very tasty too. We had three over 3lb. I was wondering are they the first ones caught in a yak as I'm not sure if you guys get them in the UK yet? If you don't then like the Giltheads etc they will arrive in time. We also had Pollack and Scad but one of the highlights was Dicks very conservative estimate of a 30lb plus Eel, we had both dropped eels due to the lightness of our tackle but after a good scrap he did get to touch the trace just as the hook sraightened.
Phenomenal fishing in fantastic weather, now look at it!

Nice!!!.....you guys certainly have some bloody nice fishing over there :catch: and in January!!! .... wouldn't mind one of them for the species list... As you say, beautiful looking fish - have you any pictures Mark? - guess that's pretty difficult in a yak?! ;D

We really didn't expect the Couches, in fact I was planning for Tope, Eel or huss but there was so many Bream about it was impossible to put baits down. I did however have a live bait down most of the time and then resorted to Bream head and guts but to no avail. Here's a link for the pictures as I am useless at loading up on here. www.alderneyangling.com/latestreports.htm

Hi Richi, I caught the first one luckily, Dicky normally beats me to everything. He did have the biggest in the end though. Even with the eel, I dropped mine through no fault and he gets his beast to the kayak...........don't you just hate him :-)
